Mavis Bank Coffee Factory -Tower Hill/Lime Tree Farm

The Journey

Getting to Tower Hill & Lime Tree Farm via The Mavis Bank Coffee Factory, involves navigating a single lane road, that is experiencing erosion of its banks; with evidence of recent rockfall (boulders apparently shoveled to the roadside).

Lithology

The lithology observed include

Felsic-Intermediate Granitoid

Blue-Green Schist

Intermediate Aphanitic to Porphyritic Volcanics

Crushed Volcaniclastic

Blue-Purple/Purple-Brown Volcanics

Dominant Tectonism

The dominant tectonism are Wagwater & Plantain Garden Earthquake Zones

Landslide Susceptibility

Given the nature of the lithology (break down to yield clays), in addition to the active nature of the Wagwater & Plantain Garden Earthquake Zone (splays), this area is highly susceptible to landslides (rock fall, debris slide). These mass movement forms can render the road that leads into these communities impassable.
