Fitness Retreat Experience 2022: Set. Go!

To stage what will be our 1st retreat experience over 2-3 days (in Runaway Bay, Jamaica W.I), we had to invest 6+ months of time & energy, towards thorough planning & preparation.

In this blog post, we share some of the experiences that contributed towards the development of this staging of our retreat experience.

Conceptualization of The Idea-The Spark

With a growing community of personal training system members, who have been consistently enrolled for 6 consecutive months, we began to think on creating experiences that’ll give the members the opportunity to strengthen their relationship. Given prior feedback from conducted mini surveys (of our community), we could see that there was a desire among the majority of members for community-strengthening activities/experiences beyond 1 day events. This was the spark.

 

Sourcing & Securing Destination(s)

The sourcing & securing of potential destinations required collaboration with key partners. One such partner, was independent travel agent, Miss Patrice Thomas. Patrice was integral in helping us shortlist destinations fitting our criteria. This was a steep challenge. Given the nature of our retreat experience model, after much shedding we found that there were only a small handful of destinations that match what we were looking for. Factors that contributed to our shedding included:

  • Poor road conditions getting to destination.
  • Destinations being too small.
  • Destinations that didn’t provide exclusivity for our participant size.

Training & Preparing Participants

To make our retreat experience rewarding to its maximum potential, we embarked on designing & administering a fitness conditioning regimen over 8 weeks, geared towards enhancing participants overall:

  • Fitness threshold (strength & endurance) suited for hiking & group aerobic activities.
  • Self-Defense Capacity-specific for transit, residential & hands-on range combat considerations/scenarios–as an individual & group.
  • Emergency First Aid: CPR, Allergic Reaction Management, Wound Management.
