Earthquake in Jamaica | Balaclava, St. Elizabeth | June 18, 2024 | Water Flow, Drought & Agriculture Insights

The magnitude 4+ earthquake Jamaica experienced on June 18, 2024 was located in a valley closest to Balaclava (St. Elizabeth).

 In the video attached, we share insights as it relates to how earthquakes can alter water flow (subsurface… specific to carbonate areas) & in turn have an effect on Agriculture, as well as other economic/livelihood activities that depend on a water source(s). These insights, among other things, have relevance to the annual drought farmers located within Jamaica’s Breadbasket parish, experience.
