The passage of Tropical Storm Rafael over Jamaica (November 4-5, 2024), is considered as the trigger of the eventual boulders that blocked & resulted in closure of the Flat Bridge thoroughfare. As communicated throughout the Jamaican media landscape, the nature of the landslide has resulted in instability of the banks of the gorge, thus rendering the team of engineers & geologists from the National Works Agency…unable to communicate a reopening date of the thoroughfare, pending their removal of the boulders from the road, and assessment to say the least.
In this video, we present some of the challenging factors (Geo, Earthquake, Bio, Hydro…) that present the geo-engineering team with giving the all clear for re-opening of the Bog Walk Gorge, to the motoring public.
