Hurricane Melissa (Category 5), made landfall on Jamaica, October 28, 2025. The aftermath highlights destruction throughout the country; and landslides are one of its products.

With Newcastle being a base for the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF), as well as a major thoroughfare for tourists to visit Hollywell Park, to name a few, if the road(s) are impassable (due to landslides), this can negatively impact Tourism Revenue and JDF movement of Human Resources, to name a few.
